Benjamin J. Mosby

Benjamin Jerome Mosby, 79, departed this life January, 30, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born June 9, 1944 to the late Everett H. Mosby, Sr. and Flora Hamlin Mosby. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church, South Richmond, where he served in many ministries until his passing. He attended Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Maggie Walker High School in 1963.
He was employed at Phillip Morris as a Machinist from 1965-1986, and Chesterfield County Public Schools, where he retired in 2010 as a Facilities Coordinator. He enjoyed cooking, swimming, traveling, antique cars and rooting for his beloved Chicago Bears.

In addition to his parents, Benjamin was preceded in death by his siblings: Floyd Sr., Clarence “Nook,” Everett Jr., and Jean; his beloved niece Vanessa; his son, Benjamin Jr.; and his wife of 42 years, Brenda Bowie Mosby. He is survived by four children: Sharon, Anthony, Brandon (Robin), and Benae; former wife Evonne Quiller; siblings Alice McNeil and William Mosby, Sr.; granddaughters Madison and Savannah and his extended granddaughters Knhya and Kamryn Ligon.
He also leaves to cherish his memory: sisters-in-law Mabel Mosby, Doris Mosby and Vivian McLeod Bowie; brother-in-law Clyde M. Bowie, Jr.; nieces Teresa Baptist, Flora “Missy” Edmonds, Marlene McNeil Nix and Joyce Loving; nephews Floyd “Chris” Mosby, Jr., William Mosby, Jr., Bartholomew Mosby, Delmont Jones and Marcellus Bowie; cherished friend Iris Galloway, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other friends.

Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St., where public viewing will take place Monday, February 12, 2024. Celebration of Life to be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at noon, at Second Baptist Church, 3300 Broad Rock Blvd. Rev Ralph Hodge officiating. Interment following at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
