Carey Albert Scott, affectionately known as “Bingo” by some and “Scott” by others, was born to Joann Scott Alert on August 20, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. In 1969, Scott and his family moved to Richmond, Virginia, where he received his education through the Richmond Public School System. As a young man, Scott gave his life to Christ and became a member of Sixth Baptist Church. He continued his walk with Christ, spending the past four years as a member of Truth Righteousness and Love (TRL) Ministries.
Three of Scott’s favorite pastimes were cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, watching Friday and Monday night wrestling matches, and cooking. An enthusiastic Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Scott loved being part of Steelers Nation. He was equally passionate about wrestling and proudly collected championship belts and wrestlers’ T-shirts.
When it came to cooking, Scott loved showing off his talents in the kitchen. He took great pride in preparing delicious dishes, which he often proudly proclaimed were “World Famous.” His love for cooking also inspired his career in the culinary arts, giving him the opportunity to prepare meals in various restaurants throughout Virginia and Maryland.
Scott was friendly to everyone he met, and those who had the pleasure of knowing him were truly touched by his presence. He had a special way of leaving a lasting impression on the lives of others. He often shared his love of music with his community by sitting on his balcony on Friday evenings, DJing for all to hear. Scott also enjoyed playing games such as Trouble, watching and attending wrestling matches, shooting pool, and bowling. These were just a few of the many ways he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Scott leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Carla Scott; his son, Caron Watkins; his bonus children, Brittany Thorpe, Nathan Thorpe, and Patrice Gardner (Ron); his grandchildren, Keymora, Caron Jr., and Camron Watkins; his bonus grandchildren, Heaven Thorpe and Jace Davis; his siblings, Tolly, Jerome (Alice), Brenda, Bryant, Terry “Niecy”, Tonya, and Todd; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joann Scott Alert, and his sisters, Roslyn Scott and Vanetta Doreen Alert.
Though he is no longer with us in person, Scott, affectionately known as Bingo, will forever hold a special place in our hearts. His love, laughter, and the memories we shared will continue to live on in each of us.
Rest in eternal peace, our beloved Scott, until we meet again.
