Mrs. Carolyn "Cal" Johnson Barlow, age 71, peacefully departed this earthy life at home on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021, after battling cancer for over 40 years.\n\n\n\nShe was born on July 15,1950 to the late Richard and Eva Mae Massey Johnson, in Lancaster, South Carolina. She was the fourth of eight siblings. Three brothers, one child, and two grandkids preceded her in death, Richard Johnson ("Junior"), Christopher Johnson ("Papoose"), Christopher Johnson ("Chris"), Tyreese Barlow ("TJ") and her Prince, Finis Leroy Barlow, Jr., were waiting for her as she\n\nwalked into the Kingdom.\n\n\n\nShe was educated in Richmond Public Schools, after which she joined the Georgia Pacific workforce. She retired from Cedarfield Retirement Community after\n\nworking over twenty years.\n\n\n\nCarolyn accepted Christ at an early age and rededicated her life to Christ at New Canaan Worship Church. Her helping hands reached into the homeless community feeding our brothers and sisters. Her many hobbies included having a green thumb for gardening and house plants. One of her normal routines was to hit the thrift stores on Saturdays along with her sister Lula and her niece Tina behind the wheel. She always loved studying the Bible and attending church services. She always took you to the Texas Roadhouse to eat, she loved those steaks cook just right. In other words, 'Mrs. Carolyn' was a meat and potato person,\n\nshe loved herself some mashed potatoes.\n\n\n\nCarolyn's legacy lives through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daughters, Kay Dabney (Petey) and Telisha Dabney; sisters, Lula Mae Brown and Rev. Kay Word (Phil); brothers, James Johnson and Roosevelt Johnson of Charlotte, NC; seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, cousins and friends\n\nwho loved her dearly.\n\nA Celebration of life will be Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at New Canaan Worship Center 4712 Forest Hill Avenue at 1:00PM. Interment Maury Cemetery.
