Charles "Herman" Battle

BATTLE, Charles "Herman", of Mattapan, Mass., formerly of Chesterfield, Va., peacefully entered into eternal rest in Boston, Mass., on June 27, 2019. Herman was born on March 12, 1938, in Halifax, N.C., to the late Aaron Battle Jr. and Sadie McGee Battle. Herman was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James E. Battle Sr.; and his loving wife, Theolinda Battle. He is survived by his devoted family, which includes three sisters, Carrie McCall, Lillie Battle and Doris West; five nieces, Dana Rice, Damita McMahand (Gary), Tangela Vaughan, Shirley Rainey (Fred) and Merinda Ford (Stefan); three nephews, Donnell Sr. and Torrey West and James Battle Jr.; one uncle, Tommie Battle Sr.; one stepdaughter, Diane Pina of New Bedford, Mass.; an adopted nephew, Leon Phillips of Mattapan, Mass.; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, including his extended family and friends in Massachusetts. Viewing and visitation will be held at 11 a.m. until 12 noon followed by the service on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2611 Bells Rd., Richmond, Va. Remains entrusted to Lopes Funeral Home in Mattapan, Mass. and Mimms Funeral Home in Richmond, Va.
