Cornelius Johnson, fondly called "Dinky", passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at age 67 in the presence of loved ones. Cornelius was born on April 12, 1954 in Enfield, North Carolina to Betty Lou Johnson Hinton and the late Charles Junious Tillery (March 2012). However, he was raised from a young age by his stepfather, the late Hollie Hinton (June 2016) whom he considered his father.\n\nHe leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Betty Lou Hinton; his son Brent O'Neal Johnson whose mother was the late Acolene J. Bland (May 2011); two siblings Ruby Clark and Charles Clarke; one stepbrother Vandervelt Adams, Sr.; five maternal aunts Geneva Hardy, Doris Hilliard (George), Earnestine Hilliard (William), Mittie Bass, and Mary Caudle (John); a paternal aunt Willie Mae Tillery Barnes; a devoted and dear cousin Ernest Butch Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.\n\n\n\nRemains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street where the Viewing will be 10am - 6pm on Sunday, Feb. 27th, and the funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 28 at 12 noon. Interment in Maury Cemetery. Mask wearing is required.
