Walker High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Army Reserve, when he finished his duty with the reserve he obtained employment at McGuire Veterans Hospital. Lindsey's passion was styling hair, preferably women's hair, and he enrolled in Turpin's Barber and Beauty School. He continued working for McGuire Hospital during the week and on the weekends he would go to school. He graduated from Turpin. While attending Turpin Barber and Beauty School, he met the love of his life, Anna Wallace. In 1950, he received his orders to report for active duty to Korea. He told his commanding officer he wanted to get married and he was given three days after he returned home to get married. He and Anna planned their wedding and got married at St. Phillip's Episcopal Church, where he was a member. Out of that union, they had a son. This was the last time he saw his wife and he did not get a chance to see his baby at all. CPL Lockett was a member of the 503rd Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea on December 1, 1950 and died while a prisoner on May 31, 1951.
