David L. Thompson

was born on August 20, 1928 in New York City to David and Louise Thompson. David attended Morris High School in South Bronx, where he graduated in 1946. He went on to enter the US Army in July of 1947. After serving in the Army for 3 years, he was honorably discharged. Upon returning homer he found employment with the Ford Motor Company in Tarrytown, New York. He then went on to serve as clerk with the USPS upon retiring.
David was a avid sportsman, with favoritism in Basketball. He also boxed with the Golden Gloves for several years. David was an advocate with the young men he mentored in the Hunts Point Community in South Bronx, New York. On May 6, 1960, He married Mary M. Palmer. David was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He was especially proud of his daughters, Adriane and Kindahl.
He leaves to cherish his memories four grandchildren; Tasharri, David, Danisha, Talyah and his great- grandson Zahki; two step daughters, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 7, 2016 at 1:30 PM Mimms Chapel. Interment Private.
