De'Taj Trevonte Bland-Gregory

–

N. CHESTERFIELD, VA

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of De’Taj Trevonte Bland-Gregory, who departed this earthly life on October 12, 2026, at the age of 28. Born on June 18, 1998, to Ebony Bland and Taj Gregory, De’Taj was a beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, godfather, and friend whose presence brought immeasurable joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

De’Taj was truly one of a kind. His personality could light up any room, his smile could brighten even the darkest day, and his laugh was unforgettable. He was the life of the party, the one who could turn an ordinary gathering into a memorable occasion. Whether he was cracking jokes, sharing stories, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, De’Taj had a special way of making everyone around him feel welcomed, loved, and appreciated. His infectious energy, sense of humor, and larger-than-life personality drew people to him. Knowing De’Taj meant loving him, and being loved by him was truly a blessing. De’Taj graduated from Huguenot High School in the Class of 2016. After graduation, he continued his education at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. He later began his professional career with the Department of Corrections and the United States Postal Service, where he remained employed until his untimely passing.

While De’Taj took pride in his accomplishments, his greatest impact was not measured by where he went to school or where he worked, but by the countless lives he touched along the way. He had a heart full of love, a spirit that could never be duplicated, and a natural talent for just about anything he put his mind to. Growing up, De’Taj was athletic and enjoyed showing off his abilities through sports. As he got older, his interests and talents kept growing. He was an amazing cook who knew his way around the kitchen and loved preparing good food for others to enjoy. With an entrepreneurial spirit, De’Taj always explored new ideas, found opportunities, and put his many talents to use. He was truly a jack of all trades, able to do a little bit of everything, and he was never afraid to try something new. He valued time with those closest to him and created memories his family and friends will treasure for a lifetime. From family celebrations to spontaneous gatherings, there was never a dull moment when De’Taj was around. He brought laughter, excitement, and an undeniable presence wherever he went. He was loved by so many, and the overwhelming love he received reflected the joy and happiness he gave to others.

De’Taj was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Acolene Bland; paternal grandparents, Jean and Leroy Gregory; and paternal brother, Taj Eric Gregory, known as “Lil Taj.”

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving parents, Ebony Bland and Taj Gregory; devoted father figure, Omar Hoover, who held a special place in his life; maternal grandfather, Timothy Bland; sisters, Diondra Williams and Emari Hoover; paternal brother, Mahkari; and paternal sisters, TeAhje and Skylar. He also leaves behind his beloved nephew, Jaeion Fisher, affectionately known as “Mr. Bink”; uncles, Brent Johnson, Mike Venable (Carla), and Lance Atkins; aunts, Crystal Gregory, LaShawnda and Dazjanae Atkins, and Alexis Jordan; beloved aunts, Khaleliah and NaTisha; cherished godchildren, Kamari Banks and Royal Wilson (Jamiah); god sister, Akira Goode; godmom, Sha’hada Parris (Lyon); devoted cousins, Tara Branch, Tiffany Seward (LaVanne), and Tanasia Jones; and sincere and treasured friend, Tiaunni Bowles, whose friendship held a special place in his heart.

He also leaves behind his loyal four-legged companion, Ghost. De’Taj’s memory will forever be cherished by a host of other extended family members, friends, coworkers, and loved ones whose lives were made brighter by his presence and forever enriched by the love, laughter, and unforgettable memories he shared with them.

Although his time here was far too short, De’Taj lived a life filled with love and laughter. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will continue to live on through every shared story and every gathering where someone will undoubtedly say, “You know De’Taj would have had something to say about this!”

As we celebrate his life, we choose to remember not only the sorrow of his departure but also the incredible joy of having known him. De’Taj reminded us that life is meant to be lived, laughter is meant to be shared, and love should never be taken for granted. His smile may no longer greet us, and his laughter may no longer fill the room, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain with us forever
