Douglas "Duck" Washington, Jr.

On Friday, September 28, 2018, Douglas Thomas Washington Jr. went home to be with the Lord. Douglas, affectionately known by most as "Duck" was born February 14, 1950, to Douglas and Pearline Washington, where he was raised and educated in Chester, Virginia. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended First Baptist Church Centralia with his mother where he was a Boy Scout.

He was a graduate of the Carver of Chester High School Class of 1968. He was drafted by the United States Army in January 1969 where he served a year in Vietnam, 1st Cavalry Division and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious and heroic service in a combat zone. He was honorably discharged in October 1971, where he returned to Phillip Morris and worked until retiring in 1998.

Duck began his lifelong training of the martial arts under the tutelage of the late Grand Master Hulon Willis. He attained the rank of 10th Degree Grand Master under the leadership of Grand Master Mike Morse, his current instructor. He has impacted the lives of countless students since he began teaching in 1985. His most notable students are his two daughters, who hold the rank of 6th Degree Master.

His other interests include drag racing, motorcycling, fishing, coaching basketball and following his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Sr. and Pearline Washington, and a his sister Doris J. Washington. He leaves to cherish his legacy, two loving and devoted daughters; Monique Washington-Jones (David), Jovani D. Johnson (Rashad); one adoring granddaughter, Joelle Monique Shelton; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, close friends and Godchildren; Kimberly, Tia, Kelvonte, Brandon.
