It is with profound sadness that the family of Doylas Romaine Turner announce her unexpected\nbut peaceful passing on June 9, 2022, at the age of 69 years.\nShe will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Kim Turner and Shawna Bass (David);\ngrandchildren: Elijah, Micah, Ethan, and Jadon; brother, Alfred Romaine, Jr (Lisa); as well as\nnumerous relatives and close friends.\n\nShe is predeceased by her sister, Doris Saunders; her parents: Alfred and Sadie Romaine, and\nher fiance, Charles Jordan.\n\nDoylas was known as "Doll" by siblings and close family, "Ma" by her two daughters and "Dee"\nby her closest friends and colleagues. She was a diligent and dedicated administrator, who took\ngreat care in each roll she held. Although she worked in a few other fields, she found her role\nworking in dialysis and patient care to be the most fulfilling. She enjoyed speaking with the\npatients daily and helping to organize company events. She was heartbroken to leave this work\nand her patients behind due to a leukemia diagnosis.\n\nDespite the odds, Doylas survived leukemia with the support of her daughters and her\nincredible will to overcome. She came out with a renewed sense of self and was in remission for\nover 5 years. However, due to new developing health issues, Doylas laid her burdens down and\npeacefully went on to glory June 9, 2022.\n\nDoylas attended John M. Gandy, Patrick Henry HS, and Virginia Union University. She enjoyed\nshopping, having her routine talks with close friends and daily calls with her brother Alfred. She\nespecially looked forward to spending time with her four grandchildren.\n\nA light to all that knew her, her presence will be greatly missed.\n\nViewings will be held Friday, June 18, 2022 from 1-5pm and on Saturday, June 19, 2022 from 12-4pm, at the Mimms Funeral\nHome, 1827 Hull St. in Richmond, VA.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doylas Turner's name to the American\nCancer Society and/or No Kids Hungry.\n\n\n\nIsaiah 57:1-2\n"The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one\nunderstands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil.
