North Chesterfield, Virginia
Eleanor Rose (Banks) Tyler was born on November 5, 1948, in Powhatan, Virginia, to the late Annie Taylor Banks and James Edward "John" Banks. She peacefully departed this life surrounded by the love and memories of family and friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her devoted husband of more than 25 years, Ernest Tyler Sr.; her beloved sisters, Gertrude "Trudy" Vasse and Valeria Meade; and her cherished brother, Waverly "Bo" Taylor.
A lifelong resident of Virginia, Eleanor attended Powhatan County schools and answered her calling to care for others by becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. For more than 30 years, she faithfully served residents at Beth Shalom Nursing Home, where her compassion, dedication, and gentle spirit touched countless lives. In addition to her work there, she provided nursing and caregiving services to private clients, always treating those in her care with dignity, kindness, and respect.
Eleanor lived life with joy and enthusiasm. She loved singing, dancing, especially line dancing, and spending precious time with family and friends. A devoted fan of Johnny Taylor and Patti LaBelle, she never missed an opportunity to enjoy music or take to the dance floor. Her uplifting personality, warm smile, and encouraging words made everyone feel welcome. Eleanor never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for connecting with people from all walks of life.
During her time at Cedar Street Baptist Church, Eleanor enjoyed singing in the choir alongside her lifelong friend, Gloria Harris. Her faith, fellowship, and love for music remained important parts of her life.
Eleanor leaves to cherish her memory her brother, James "Skeet" Banks; her children, Coretha M. Claiborn (Chris), Ernest Tyler Jr. (Kita), and Roxanne Hamiel; her grandchildren, Norman (Juni) Goode, Ernest L. Crump, and Kelsi Tyler; her great-grandsons, August and Aiden Crump; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Though she will be deeply missed, Eleanor's legacy of love, compassion, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her memory will be treasured forever.
