Evelyn (Barbara) Smith

SMITH, Evelyn "Barbara" Brown Williams, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 12, 2016. She departed this life peacefully. She was the oldest daughter of the late Samuel Fable Brown and Blanch Viola Brown. She was born in Springfield, Mass. on June 11, 1927. Raised in New York City until the age of 21, prior moving to Virginia with family. Her union with her husband, Alphonso Sanger Williams, produced two children; one son, Alphonso Charles Williams (Deborah); and one daughter, Linda Darnell Williams Lewis (Robert). She is survived by her two children, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers, Victor and Gerald; one sister, Lillian Anderson; one sister in-law, Esta Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St., where family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 19 and where funeral service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 1 p.m. Interment Maury Cemetery.
