Fenley Valentine Obituary (1946 - 2021)

Fenley Grey Valentine, son of the late John Eddie and Joanna Cousins Valentine, was born on October 4th, 1946 in Mecklenburg county VA. The lord called Fenely to his final resting place on February 10th, 2021 where he was surrounded by loved ones. Fenley was preceded in death by his four brothers, Walter Juniuos, John Arthur, Saint Lewis Valentine and Mose Valentine and one grandson Lamar Bowman Valentine. At an early age, he was baptized at M.A.King Memorial Church, South Hill VA. He attended Mecklenburg public school system. Fenely left to cherish precious memories of his wife, companion and friend of 36 years, Melody Brown Valentine. Their union was blessed with one son, Daniel and together their family loving blended into ten children, Alex Macklin (Robin), Rodney Valentine (Marie), Finley Valentine (Jonzetta), Edward Keith Dunson (Maybelline), Celestine Dunn (Curt), Florence Dunn (Miciheal), Marcus Valentine, Roseann Whitehead, Latoya Joyner (Micheal), Daniel Brown (Tanquera). One brother Edward Valentine,One Aunt Barabara Valentine, Five sisters in laws, Sarah Valentine, Elvira Cypress, Rosa Valentine, Cherryl Kenney, Betty Brown and Three brothers in laws, Ronald Brown, Tyrone Brown and James Kenney. One Devoted Nephew Saint Lewis Cypress, One devoted cousin Judy Jackson Pugh, Two devoted friends Henry Campbell and Glenn Mcvey Jr (Jack) and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren,nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Fenley became an over the road truck driver at the age of sixteen. His handle was the "Green Hornet'', He drove for several trucking companies within a span of over 30 years. He then was employed by the Port of Richmond Marine Terminal, where he drove a yard jockey until retirement. Fenely was truly the definition of a backseat driver, No one knew how to drive in his mind and he would let you know (Loudly). Fenely was a people person and could strike up a conversation with anyone, as the saying goes "He never met a stranger" .He loved his family and friends and showed his love for them immensely. Fenely's favorite pastime was talking with his family, going fishing, watching the NFL, Westerns and Law and Order. He was a fun loving man with the personality of a comedian. Fenley would host an annual pig roast with all the fixings and everyone would be invited from near and far, Fenely would then sit back in his chair watching the festivities, talking trash and telling jokes with a big smile on his face. A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2021 Mimms Chapel at 12:00PM.
