Rededicated to Christ, April 6, 2026, through the Sparrow Family Monday Night Prayer Line.
Gerard H. Allen was born in Newark, New Jersey, at Beth Israel Hospital on December 3, 1959. He had four siblings. His parents, who have preceded him in death, were Mr. Roy Allen and Mrs. Drucilla Andrews Allen. He was also preceded by his grandma, Mrs. Irene Andrews, and sibling, Victor L. Allen.
Gerard leaves to cherish his memory: his siblings, Evangelist Roslyn Allen of Chesterfield, VA, Wandell E. Allen (Cheryl) of Bethlehem, PA, and Richard K. Allen (Loraine) of Jacksonville, FL, and sister-in-law, Mrs. Judith Allen (Victor) of Stanhope N.J.
Gerard had seven nieces and three nephews. Included is a large host of cousins and great-nephews and nieces.
Gerard attended Central Avenue Elementary – Newark, NJ, and Mecklenburg County Elementary – Chase City. He attended West Side H.S. – Newark, NJ. He came to Richmond to attend Smithdeal Massey Business College.
Gerard didn’t choose to go to the military like his dad and two brothers. He was interested in business matters.
Gerard was also a resident of JAX Florida, where he and “Dickie” were kickin’ it. Oh yes, our home stomping ground, the well-known 392 Central Avenue, Newark, NJ. Our childhood family friends, the Grahams, lived in the 390 building on Central Ave, Newark, NJ. Fun, fun times.
Gerard was a member of the New Deliverance C.O.G.I.C. in Chesterfield, VA, where he served and thrived in men’s mentorship. He met many strong Christian men living for God. As a child, he attended the Greater Harvest Baptist Church, also attended Abyssinia Baptist Church, Nwk., NJ.
Gerard was a dedicated and hardworking man. He actually loved every job that he worked. Everywhere he went, lives were impacted. He served all people and was practically invaluable. His special love to Shyndigz family was like no other.
Gerard was a foodie. He loved liver & onions, chicken livers, pizza, salmon cakes, fish & French fries from “The Crab Shack”, cheese, oxtails, key lime pie from Shyndigz (Yummy!), and most of all: Ice Cream (his last meal with me).
Gerard’s spirit is now resting in Heaven. The desire of God is that very same event, for all people healed. Deliverance, salvation, and newness of life forever more. Pray!! (Psalm 43:4)
Gerard is free and is healed. 9:41pm, April 24th, 2026, Eternity.
