HOLLIS LEE JACKSON, was born to William and Lucille ReddJackson on May 29, 1954 in Lynchburg, Virginia. Hollis was preceded in death by two brothers Larry Jackson (Lavita) and Terry Jackson (deceased Annie) and brother- in-law Anthony Jennings (deceased- Annette).
Hollis attended Randolph-Henry High School in Charlotte Court House, Virginia and graduated in 1972. That same year, he relocated to Richmond, Virginia and worked various jobs. Hollis was a State Trooper with the Virginia State Police working the I-95 corridor for Petersburg-Richmond. He also served with the Virginia National Guard and he was recognized as an Expert M-16 rifle marksman during his military service. Later, in 1993, he started Jackson’s Hauling Trucking business.
Hollis created genuine relationships with many vendors and co-workers. He always wanted customer satisfaction at the end of the day. Hollis retired from his business in 2018.
Hollis loved to worship and fellowship at the New Canaan Worship Center. He joined and served alongside the Transportation and Trustee Ministries.
Hollis loved his family and friends, and we loved him. He often prepared his trademark turkey chili, burgers and fresh veggies. He will be sorely missed at the table.
Hollis is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Jennings Jackson; son Hollis Wilson (Brandy), daughter Hollie Jones, devoted daughter-in-love Bridget Thompson (A. Lee Thompson); three grandchildren, granddaughter Selena Thompson and two grandsons Amari and Caleb Wilson; sisters, Cecelia J. Hurt, Della Jackson, Deloris Jackson and Shawanda Lynch (E-Dunnis); one brother Tim Jackson (Robin); two aunts Lessie Jennings (Crewe, VA) and Grace Randolph (Richmond, VA); three sisters-in-law, Alma Jennings Christian (Carl), Theresa Jennings and Marlena Jennings (Erving); four brothers-in-law, Charles Jennings, Jr. (Linda), Robert Lee Jennings (Sharron-deceased), Michael McGilvery (Sharon) and Charles Penn. A host of cousins and friends, among them too many devoted brothers for 40+ years to name who truly loved him.
