Ja'Twasean Arveil Pierce, Sr. was born in Richmond, VA on June 30, 1993 to Charles Cornelius Wright and Gwendolyn Denise Pierce. He was the youngest of four children between his parents.
Ja'Twasean, who was affectionately known as "Pudgee" to his family members and later "Lil Cert" - his musician's name, was a loving and joyful child who enjoyed playing, joking and making up songs with his siblings, cousins and friends. He was educated in the Richmond City Public School District. He went on to complete an electrical apprenticeship and also wrote and produced music.
Pudgee played many roles in his life such as brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend. His most cherished role, however, was that of a father to his loving sons Ja'Twasean (Junior) and Jaceon (Juice).
Pudgee never met a stranger who wouldn't soon become a friend. He enjoyed meeting people and would quickly capture them with his unmatched personality, sense of humor and original jokes. He was a confidant to many and was always available to lend an ear or helping hand. Quite the socialite, Pudgee was witty and charming. He had a smile that would light up a room. His passion for music and commitment to his arts was undeniable! He enjoyed writing and performing songs; as well as collaborating with other musicians and producers. He also believed heavily in capturing the moment and always had impromptu photo shoots with his sons, family and friends.
On Monday, March 6, 2023 his earthly life ended, and God called him from labor to reward when Pudgee reunited with his father; paternal grandparents Charles Wright and Bernice Holloway; and maternal grandparents Charles Lester White, Sr. and Dorothy Elaine Pierce. We may want to question the why, but God in his infinite wisdom is to be trusted with the plan He has.
He is survived by his sons: Ja'Twasean Arveil Pierce, Jr (Shanel Byrd-mother) and Jaceon Armeil Pierce (Krystal Johnson-mother); his devoted mother, Gwendolyn D. Pierce; three sisters: Jhameka A. Pierce, Tynette Bullock, Nenaysha Bullock and a cousin, who was raised with him as a sister - Danye' Pierce; Grandmother: Marietta Johnson; 11 aunts; 7 uncles and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends - among them two devoted friends: Thomas Gilmore (Tom Tom) and RaShaad Robinson, Sr. He loved his whole family and both extended and immediate and he loved with all of him. He will truly be missed.
Services will be held to celebrate the life of Pudgee on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 2pm at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street, Richmond, Virginia 23224.
