On Sunday, September 19, 2021, God called His Faithful Servant, Jacquelyn Irene Friend, lovingly known as "Jackie". She took His Hand and answered His call and went to be with the Lord.\n\nShe was educated in the Chesterfield County Public Schools, and was a member of the graduating class of 1964. She attended Business School in Richmond Virginia for one year; where upon she was offered and accepted a permanent GS-Career position at the Defense Logistics Agency. Twenty-nine years later, she retired and received a Certificate of Retirement for 29 years of Honorable Federal Service from the Director, Defense Information Systems Agency Headquarters in Washington, D.C.\n\nShe joined the A.M.E. Zion Church in Chester, VA at an early age; continuing her religious journey which sustained her for the rest of her life. She was an original member of the Church's Junior Choir, she served on the Women's Usher Ministry, and she actively recruited members for the Sunday school under Leadership of Mr. Lewis Allen, Superintendent of Sunday School and actively participated in the Church's Weekly Bible Study Group. Jackie was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.\n\nShe was predeceased by her parents, Bettye & Isaac Friend, Sr., an uncle, John H. Hancock & her partner of 46 years, Arlington R. Banks, Sr.\n\nShe is survived by two sisters; one devoted Beverly Friend Mayfield (David); one brother, Isaac Friend, Jr., one nephew, Kevin Friend (Yolanda), a best friend Valerie Gray, lifelong friends and relatives: Cheryl W. Sorden (Lawrence); Donna Washington (Calvin); Jackie Bettie McMillian; Gail Crump (George), Norman & Shirley Robinson; Hilda Brown, Jimmy Tollerson, Mary Elizabeth & family, Edward Henderson (Shirley) and a host of other friends and family.
