James E. Massey, Sr.

James E. Massey, Sr. departed this life February 16, 2017. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Lee Ola Massey; mother, Pearl M. Moore; two sons, James E. Massey Jr. (Claudia) and Angelo H. Johnson (Linda); one devoted daughter, Devora C. Person (James); 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Rose M. "Cookie" Gary (James) and Storma "Van" Lee; four sisters-in-law, Edith J. Jefferson, Maxine Johnson, Erma Jean Griffin and Erma Louise Griffin; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. James proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. His service to the nation and his family encompassed a vast career with the Virginia Department of Corrections, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Veteran's Administration and most recently, the United States Postal Service, from which he retired in 2012.

Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street, Richmond, Va., where funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017, at 12 noon. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 23, 2017, from 6 to 7 p.m. and up to one hour prior to the service, on February 24, 2017.
