Richmond, VA
Jimmy Lee Poole was born on June 10, 1946, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Harrison Poole and Thelma Jefferson. He attended Richmond Public Schools and went on to establish a strong and dedicated work history. Jimmy was employed by Philip Morris and Deep Water Terminal, where he was known for his commitment and remained a valued employee for many years.
Jimmy had a special love for oldies and R&B music. Those who knew him well would often describe him as a “Lady’s Man.” He was easily recognizable by his smooth, distinctive walk—as though he were walking on water—and by the pride he took in his appearance. Jimmy dressed sharp each and every day as if it were Sunday morning and was known as one of the sharpest dressers in South Richmond.
In his leisure time, Jimmy loved the game of golf and enjoyed playing pool. He was also a die-hard fan of the Washington Commanders, formerly known as the Washington Redskins. Whether enjoying good music, watching his favorite team, playing a game of pool, or simply spending time with others, Jimmy brought his own unmistakable style and presence wherever he went.
Jimmy was well respected by all who had the honor of knowing him and spending time with him. He will be remembered for his confidence, his distinctive style, his love of music and sports, and the many memories he shared with family and friends.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison Poole and Thelma Jefferson; his sisters, Delores Robinson and Vanessa Robinson; and his brother, Lorenzo Harrison Poole.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three sons, Bryan Keith and Anthony Maurice Johnson and Jimmy Lee Poole Jr. (Khidhra); his daughters, Stacey Poole and Lindsey Poole. He also leaves four grandsons, Brandon Taylor, Shameek Smith, Ahmir, and Camden Butler Poole; two granddaughters, Sydney and Zare’ Poole; one devoted sister, Pamela Poole; and a devoted niece, Letricia Poole; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Jimmy Lee Poole will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, style, and memories he leaves behind will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
