JOSEPH “LIL JOE” EDWARD COLEMAN, SR., 76, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in Hopewell, Virginia. He was born to Martha
Coleman and Joseph Battle on May 6, 1948. Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother.Joe attended Richmond public schools and later was drafted into the US Marines for two years. Upon leaving the Corps, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He was employed at various companies in the Richmond area, until he was declared medically disabled for employment.Joe is survived by his wife, Velicia Coleman; two sons, Joseph and Joel Coleman; daughter, Michelle Coleman; four brothers, Raymond (Helen), Eric (Johnella), Cedric (Barbara), and Theron (Levette) Battle; two sisters, Almatrice Battle and Georgette Golden; and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
