June Orvilla Bell heard the voice of the Lord and followed the angels into heaven on Thursday, July 11, 2019. Her life's journey began on July 2, 1944, and she recently celebrated her 75th birthday with family and friends.
June left an indelible mark on this world when she gave birth to two beautiful daughters Karen Rose Tanner and Kathryn Bell who will cherish and carry out her legacy along with eight grandchildren, Emmanuel Tanner, Joseph Tanner, Brinnay Bell, Taylor Tanner, Javonnie Joyner, Giavanni Ferebee, Sievonyia Bell, Tailyn Abernathy, and one great granddaughter, Autumn Bell. She was the widow of Freddie Bell, and was predeceased by a stepson, Kevin Bell.
June was the youngest of eight children born to the late Johnnie and Elnora Rose. She was predeceased by two brothers, Willie Rose, Samuel Rose, and three sisters, Theresa Richardson, Elizabeth Rivers and Mabel Freeman. She is survived by two sisters, Catherine Rose Jones, Annabelle Cary, and her brother Eugene Rose, Sr. She has a host of nieces, nephews and many close friends especially Lara Jones, and Dorothy Clinkscales, along with her church family of Central United Methodist Church of Richmond, and her former church family of Morningstar Baptist Church.
June retired from the Virginia Department of Taxation with over 20 years of dedicated service and loved participating in church activities, her community, and shopping. When she was active, June had a special love for beautiful hats, furs and elegant clothing.
She loved to laugh and "kick up" as she found humor in all aspects of life and brought so many smiles to people's faces. Her zeal for life always led her to share the love of Christ with everyone she met.
She had a true passion for gardening as she excitedly watched her favorite vegetables grow and flowers bloom in her gardens. Sunflowers gave her great joy and solace as she would grasp them in her hand and smell their fragrance.
The family is truly at peace to know when the trumpets sound and the clouds began to open, June Orvilla Bell answered the call to come into her heavenly home, so we rejoice for the victory is in Christ Jesus.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to the special caregivers Lara Jones, ManorCare Health Services staff, Heartland Hospice staff, Dr. Cloyd Titus, and Sherri Munford for your support.
