Kenneth Lamont Stewart

–

Chesterfield, Virginia

With hearts filled with love and gratitude, we celebrate KENNETH LAMONT STEWART, affectionately known as “Kenny” or “Stew.” His life reminds us of the blessings of second chances and the lasting power of love.

Born in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Harry E. Stewart, Sr., and Irene Augusta Stewart, Kenny attended Richmond Public Schools and was a star varsity basketball player at Thomas Jefferson High School. He was baptized at Fourth Baptist Church in Richmond, an important part of his early spiritual journey.

Kenny had a welcoming heart and never knew an enemy. A loyal friend and caring mentor, he spoke honestly, loved generously, and stood beside others through difficult times.

Shortly before his passing, Kenny celebrated 23 years of sobriety. He described his recovery as a rebirth and offered others the hope of a new beginning. He assisted loved ones with substance abuse interventions and held positions of trust in Alcoholics Anonymous. In 2004, he completed studies through the Kentucky School of Alcohol and Other Drug Studies and the “Life on Life’s Terms” training at The Healing Place.

Kenny retired after many years with Hospital Corporation of America and also owned a cleaning business specializing in floor care. He cherished time with loved ones, his beloved dog Cassie, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. He lovingly remembered his dog Violet, who preceded him in death.

For 17 years, Kenny shared a life of love, laughter, and companionship with his devoted partner, Kim L. Dean. Together, they found strength and comfort in one another.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Johnson and Barbara Townes. He leaves to cherish his memory: his partner, Kim L. Dean; his son, Kenneth Evans; daughter, Torrie Evans; stepdaughter, Tonia Owens; brothers, Harry E. Stewart, Jr. (Vivian), Stanley Stewart, Ronald Stewart (Juanita), and Darrell Stewart; sisters, Brenda Scott and Diane Lemle; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and lifelong friends.

As we entrust Kenny to God’s loving care, may we find comfort in God’s promises and in the love and memories he leaves in our hearts.
