Our beloved Lee Albert McCollum Jr. 56 took the 'Stairway to Heaven' on May 3, 2022. Lee McCollum was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Lee was born on August 25, 1965, in Richmond, Virginia. Lee was the son of Nancy and Lee Sr. McCollum and the protector of his sisters: Janet Archer and Shelley McCollum and bonus sisters Georgette Kirby, D'Anne Smith, N'Chelle Israel and Sonja Rogers. Lee was an intelligent, hardworking, and adventurous Virgo who loved people and life. In the late 1970s, Lee moved to California to attend Seaside High School. He graduated in 1983. While living in California, Lee was blessed to extend his family, gaining a wonderful bonus mother Thelma McCollum (Tootie), brothers Roger, Randall, Reggie, and sister, Tammie Gladney.
While in high school, Lee was a star football athlete. Sporting #66, Lee Jr. made touchdowns all the way to Monterey Peninsula College where he continued his football career. In the Fall of 1982, Lee met his future wife, Cynthia McCollum. They married on May 6, 1988. Shortly after, Lee Jr. joined the United States Army where he discovered his love for the medical field. Lee became a Charlie Medic in the Army until December 1996. He then put on his civilian clothes and became an LPN. In 1989, Lee and Cynthia gave birth to their first daughter, Jasmine McCollum. In 1993, the couple welcomed their second daughter, Bria McCollum. Additionally, Lee will be a grandfather to his soon to be granddaughter Lovie Lee Ndialle. Lee was a fan of Jeopardy, Raisin Brand, Rock music, collecting pens, and practical jokes. His fun and free-spirited personality will be missed. Lee Albert McCollum Jr. will be reunited in heaven with his father Lee McCollum Sr., brother Reggie Gladney and his loving bundle of furry joy Dallas McCollum.
