Lettie Lee Thompkins Obituary (1927

Lettie Lee Thompkins was born in Charlotte County, Virginia on January 4, 1927. She walked into God's arms on October 25, 2021. Lettie was a career entrepreneur and could often be found at Bellwood Flea market when not working as a cook or personal home assistant. Lettie was a devout member of Chicago Avenue Baptist Church where she did God's work singing in the choir and actively participating in various ministries modeling how to live the blessed life and be a blessing to others. Lettie was born to Horace Craighead and Mary Bet Sydnor in Charlotte County, VA as the oldest of her five siblings. Lettie's passion to explore and make it on her own was the catalyst for her never giving up no matter the obstacle or challenge put forth in her path. It was her deep-rooted faith in the Lord that kept her feet forward and head held high knowing that every situation is an opportunity to be bigger and better... and that she did. Lettie stopped working in 2003 and just until recent, you could still find her lighting up the block with her smile and twinkle-eye on her Drewry Street perch over-looking Hillside Court with all her friends and family. Lettie is preceded in death by her parents, Horace & Mary Bet; her siblings Carl, Dorothy, Julia, Eloise and Penny; her husband Donald Thompkins, Sr.; and her daughters Carolyn Robinson and Bernice Johnson. Lettie leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Connie Bland (George) and Lorna Owens; three children by marriage Claudine, Flonia and Donald, Jr.; Seven grand-children, twenty-two great-great-grand-children and a bounty of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 1 PM at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St. Viewing to be held one hour prior. Interment Maury Cemetery.
