Lula R. George Obituary (1948 - 2015)

Lula Mae Ransom George "Peaches", age 67, died at The Laurels of Willow Creek Hospice in Midlothian, VA. December 1st, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. She was born September 2, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama, to Alexzean and Isaac Ransom. For her early education Lula attended the schools in the Mobile, Alabama school system, and in her senior year of high school, achieved the honor of Valedictorian. As a student of Southern University she earned a BA in Home Economics (1969), and as a student at L.S.U. she earned a Master's in Computer Science (1976). Lula was employed by the Federal Government for 24 1/2 years where she shined as a Computer Specialist. She was instrumental in helping to develop the defense system installed on the USS Nemesis. She lived in many different places -- including Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Maryland -- before settling in Virginia, after she retired from the federal government. Lula was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She was an Entrepreneur, who owned a Carryout and Catering business that she named "Ike's Carry-out and Banquet Hall," after her father. She also created a cookbook titled "Easy Cooking Cajun and Creole Cuisine" that was sold at "Books for Cooks," National Harbor - Baltimore, MD. Lula will be especially remembered for her quick wit, her robust laugh, spirit of adventure, and the tenaciousness that allowed her to achieve top rankings in many diverse endeavors. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Detrice (Taft) Maria George Wallace; one grandson Taft Upshur Wallace IV (who she loved more than the whole wide world); five sisters (Barbara Ann Ransom Hall, Alice Ransom (Albert, deceased) Hatter, Mattie Ransom, Louvinia Ransom and Sharon Ransom); five brothers (Isaac Ransom, Jr., Willie (Mary Sue) Ransom (devoted brother), Johnnie (Fran) Ransom, Michael (Celita) Ransom, and James Ransom); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends (Barbara Harris, devoted friend). Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home 1827 Hull St., where funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday December 7th, 2015. Interment First Baptist Church Cemetery, Midlothian, Va.
