Rev. Lutrelle D. Rainey, Sr. Obituary (1945 - 2020)

Rev. Lutrelle D. Rainey, Sr. departed this life at the Laurels of Willowcreek where he received excellent care since January, 2020. Born on December 28, 1945, to the late Howard and Fannie Rainey, he was a native of Newport News, Virginia. Lutrelle D. Rainey, Sr. served as a professor at many universities including Virginia State University, Virginia Union University and Morris College. Most importantly, he served God through preaching the gospel and pastoring God's people at several churches in Virginia, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina and Ohio. He is preceded in death by his father, Howard H. Rainey, Sr.; mother Fannie D. Rainey; brothers Howard H. Rainey, Jr. and Alpheus M. Rainey; and sister Janice R. Pearson. He leaves to cherish his memory two children-Lisa D. Hill (Alfred, Jr.), Lutrelle Jr. (Traci); sister Alease R. Gant; 5 grandchildren-Allisa J. Hill, Cayla Rainey, Lutrelle D. Rainey III, and Jaxson Lewis, former wife and mother to Lisa and Lutrelle Jr. - Paulette T. Rainey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters/brothers-in law and friends. A private celebration of life will be held at Mimms Funeral Home, Richmond Virginia on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 3:00PM. . The private service will be livestreamed on the Mimms Funeral Home Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
