Maggie M. Isom Obituary (1933 - 2018)

Mrs. Maggie M. Isom, wife of the late George Bluford "GB" Isom Sr. was born April 14, 1933 in Person County, Roxboro, NC. She was born to the late Lillie Smith. Maggie was the youngest of two children. Her sister, Leona Smith, preceded her in death. Upon her mother's passing, she was raised by the late Mildred Smith. At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ and joined Hyco Zion Baptist Church in Roxboro, North Carolina. Maggie was educated in Person County school system, and faithfully worked on the family farm. In 1955 "Moze", as she was fondly known by family and friends, moved to Richmond VA, and later married GB of Person County North Carolina. To their union six children were born. One of whom preceded her in death, Terry. She was a member of Fifth Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. Maggie enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, reading her bible, listening to "spirituals", walking, and being amongst family and friends. She found the most joy in babysitting children. She was known amongst the family for her fried chicken, potato salad, and sweet potato pies. The signature question within the family, was "Who made this, Moze?" To cherish her memories, she is survived by her children, two daughters Patrese Isom of Richmond Va., Lynda Jordan of N. Chesterfield, VA, three sons, Vladimir B. Wolffe "Jr" of Salem, OH, William Isom of Richmond VA, Barry Isom (April) of N. Chesterfield VA, and a step-son Leonard Pettiford (Brenda) of Roxboro, NC. Nine grandchildren, five devoted Nicolia, CheNey, JaVontae, Amyah, Waltrell, two great-grandchildren, Nazi'r, Emmanuel "Manny", and a host of relatives and friends; three devoted, Edna Jackson, Pearl Wilson, and Amelia Smith. Maggie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Maggie lived life as her daughtet Lynda's favorite quote "God has given you roses, please take time to smell them". Let us celebrate her life. Family will receive friends Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00PM Mimms Chapel. Funeral service Friday, September 28, 2018 Fifth Baptist Church 1415 W. Cary Street at 11:00AM. Interment Riverview Cemetery.
