Obituary for Martha A. Martin\n\n\n\nOn February 10th, 2022, Martha A. Martin affectionately known as "Aunt Nannie" departed this life at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Henrico County, Virginia.\n\nShe was born in Farmville, Virginia on July 13th, 1927, to the late Silas and Martha Watson Tucker.\n\nMartha was preceded in death by siblings Sue, Richard, James, Luvenia, Charlie, Martha, Elizabeth and Lillian.\n\nShe was baptized and grew up in the family church Monroe Baptist Church in Rice, Virginia. Martha received her early education from Robert R. Morton High School.\n\nFamily and Friends will remember her for many generosities and her cooking. Martha often prepared dishes for family, church events, cook outs and home comings. She was noted for her rolls, cakes, and pies.\n\nShe worked for many years in the food industry before transitioning to healthcare and working as health care aid. She cared for several patients by private duty. Martha took great pride in her work and received rewards.\n\nFaithfully devoted to God. She was a proud member of Chicago Avenue Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia where she became an Usher and Deaconess. Martha attended services regularly until health prohibited her. She was an active member in the church participating in teaching both bible studies, Sunday school and attending conventions.\n\nMartha's pride and joy was her family and her home.\n\nShe leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter Mary, former spouse Foster. Grandchildren Milton, Iris (Tim). Great grandchildren Brian (Dee), Kory. Great Great grandchildren Hazel and Stella. Brothers Henry, Percy (Barbara), and sister Mary. Host of nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.\n\nA special Thank you to her two nephews Mark and Ricky (Donna).\n\nFamily will receive friends on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 4-6 PM at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St.\n\nFuneral service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 1 PM at Chicago Avenue Baptist Church, 2331 Broad Rock Blvd. Richmond, VA 23224.
