Nekida Rene Martin

Nekida Rene’ Martin was born December 7, 1972, in Dayton, Ohio, to Shirley Martin and the late Ezekiel Martin.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her lord and savior at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Nekida was educated at Mamaroneck Elementary School in Mamaroneck, New York. She graduated from Powhatan High School (Powhatan, Virginia) and then received her BS in business administration from Virginia Union University (Richmond, Virginia) in 1995. Nekida was employed at Capital One for ten years (quality assurance specialist) and was currently employed as a quality assurance manager at Centivo. She was an avid New York Knicks and New York Giants fan.

Nekida was an avid music lover, her favorites being Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley. Nekida was such a creative mind that in her spare time she created special events which incorporated decorations. Christmas was her favorite holiday when she decorated trees for her family.

Nekida enjoyed family gatherings with games, debates, gifts, and good food. Nekida had a very giving spirit and loved to give unique gifts to all her family during special occasions. Nekida loved shopping and cultural artifacts and traveling. Nekida had a beautiful big smile that would light up any room.

She was preceded in death by her father and her best friend, Tanja Hicks.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted mother, Shirley Martin.

The remaining 4 heartbeats: her sisters Pamela Crump (Robert Jr. of Powhatan, Virginia), Kimberly Martin (Chesterfield, Virginia), Mia Martin (Richmond, Virginia), and Tashia Martin (Powhatan, Virginia).
