Olyn P. Hampton of Chester, Va., departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, November 29, 2015. \n\nMr. Hampton is survived by his wife, Judy Marchand Hampton; son, Randal S. Hampton; daughters, Deandra Miller and Sherry Johnson; grandsons, Kiwian, Randal Jr., Donteerian, Guvonni; granddaughter, Ramesha; mother, Helen Nunn Hampton; brothers and sisters, Willie Ann (Fred), Reginald, Ronnie (Angelia), Henry (Renee), Clifford (Vickie), Rosie, Mary and Lillie. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephew, and friends. \n\nOlyn was born in Louisville, Miss. on August 21, 1947. He was a 1969 graduate of Alcorn University with a major in Biology. Upon graduating, he worked for several insurance companies, retiring from Sentry Insurance after 32 years of service. Olyn was also a deacon at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Mosely, Va., as well as a member of the Brothers in Christ Men's choir. Olyn served as an esteemed member for the past 25 years at Hobson Lodge #23 F&AM in Richmond, where he served as treasurer for 20 years and a member of the Shriner's Mocha Temple No. 7, A.E.A.O.N.M.S. of Richmond, VA. \n\nRemains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2015. \n\nFuneral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, December 3, at the Spring Creek Baptist Church, 5130 Woolridge Rd., Moseley, Va., 23120. \n\nInterment Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Louisville, Miss.
