On Monday, December 12, 2016, God called our beloved Patricia Harrell Walls home to glory. Patricia, affectionately known as "Pat," was born in Richmond, Va., on May 2, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Gibson Harrell and Benzina Chavis Harrell. Pat attended Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Armstrong High School with honors in 1954. In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her siblings, Joe Louis Chavis, Myrna Atkins and Stines Crawley; Children Darleen Walls Fenner and Deanna Walls; grandson, Demond L. Walls; and the father of her children, Edward Walls Sr.\n\nPat retired from DuPont after 30 years of service. She was the first female Security Guard for the Richmond, Virginia Spruance Plant. Upon retirement from DuPont, she later worked for the Central Virginia Food Bank for 20 years. Pat was once a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, where she served in multiple ministries.\n\nShe leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughters, Donna Smith (Orlando), Daphne Walls Ghee (Richard) and Dawn Walls; sons, David and Edward Walls; grandchildren, Shannon (Cori), Shaina, Shay, Brittany, Taylor, Deanna and Christopher Walls, Orlando (Lorie), Saul and Brian Smith (Jennifer), Damon, Brent and Blair Brooks, Davinna Henley (Jonathan) and Donna Fenner Powell (Corey); great-grandchildren, Christian Powell, Tyvell Bailey, Samantha and Jacob Walls, Caleigh Turner, Jayna, Ross and Aynslee Smith and Jahlia, Jayla and Jaslyn Henley; niece, Elanda Bull; aunt, Ruth Harrell; son-in-law, James F. Fenner; sisters-in-law, Barbara Walls and Marcia Crawley; daughter-in-law, Lisa Walls and brother-in-law, Otis Atkins.\n\nPat was a loving, devoted and giving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had love and compassion for everyone she met. She was energetic, quick-witted, honest and giving to everyone she met. She was loved by all and will be extremely missed.\n\nRemains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, located at 1827 Hull St., Richmond, Va. 23224, where family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, from 6 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016, at 11 a.m., at Mimms Funeral Home. Internment is private.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
