Pearl Bell

–

Richmond, Virginia

Pearl Clastine Bell, the eldest child of the late Henry Thomas Hall, Sr. and Flossie Walton, was born on September 18, 1949 in Emporia, VA.

At a very young age, her family relocated to Hackensack, NJ. Pearl received her education in Bergen County Schools. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 12 and was baptized into the fellowship at New Hope Baptist Church in Hackensack, NJ.

Pearl was a very enthusiastic dancer. It didn’t matter if she was at a party, a wedding or a family get together, she was always one of the first ones to hit the dance floor. She began her working years as a receptionist at Warner Electric Atlantic Record Company. She received a typing certification from Bergen Community College and then went on to work at Merck Pharmaceuticals, where she retired after 27 years. After retirement in 2006, she moved to Virginia and began working at Lowe's where she was employed for another 13 years. Pearl’s checkout line was always long because customers wanted to see that beautiful smile. If you have ever met her, even for a moment, you would know that sparkling smile! She became a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Glen Allen, VA and enjoyed serving on the Hospitality Ministry.

Pearl married the love of her life, Elwood Lorenzo Bell, on June 14, 1970. The love that they shared was witnessed and adored by many. To this beautiful union was born two sons Quincy Douglas Bell and Everett Lorenzo Bell. Pearl and Elwood enjoyed a life full of travel, visiting casinos, and attending the sporting events of their grandchildren. Pearl just loved jumping in the car and taking a ride! Sometimes these rides included visiting friends, Elwood’s sisters or up to Cartersville visiting his homeboys and country cousins. These visits were always filled with love and laughter, until Elwood took his shoes off - which meant it would be a loooong night!

In the late morning of September 2, 2023, in the comfort of her home and with her family by her side, Pearl transitioned from labor to reward.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Thomas Hall, Jr, and her sister Sharon.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her loving and devoted husband of 53 years: Elwood; sons: Quincy (Elona) and Everett (Laura); seven grandchildren: Lenise, Torren, Elijah, Shane, Tyler, Everett, and Jordan; brothers: Kevin Dwight Hall (Carmela), Kenneth Walton (Marcela); sisters-in-law: Youlanda Ford (Edward), Mattie Allen, Denise Jackson and Veronica Grimes (Harthel); godchild: Aaron; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special devoted friends: Bonnie Campbell (Bill) and Gail Robinson (Willie).
