Raymond Banks

Raymond James Banks, Jr. was born on December 5, 1941 in Caroline County. Raymond was educated in Lunenburg County Public School System in Victoria, Virginia and furthered his studies at Virginia State College and majored in Auto Mechanics. Raymond retired as a Master Mechanic after 36 years in the Richmond area.

At an early age, Raymond joined Levi Baptist Church in Meherrin, Virginia, he then joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Bells Rd., where he served faithfully as a member, usher and trustee. He later joined All Nations Church of the Nazarene, where he has faithfully served until death.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Raymond James Banks, Sr and Ruth Beatrice Johnson Banks.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ellen Frances Hurt Banks. Two children: Ivan Lorenzo Banks (Selena) and Sonya Ashby and a Son- in-love, Robert Ashby. Six grandchildren: Raymond A. Banks , Sr. (Larika); Cierra Banks; Shae Banks; Brennon Banks; Rayshard Ashby and Rajon Ashby. Nine great grandchildren: Raymond A. Banks, Jr.; Kaci Smith; Ryan Banks; Anthony Teasley, Jr; Ivan M. Banks; Breyunna Banks; Olivia Banks; Summer Bland and Autumn Bland.

Two brothers, Micheal C. Banks (Carolyn) of Flanders, New Jersey, Joseph (Iris) Banks of Richmond, VA , and one sister, Ruth Well (Leroy) of Washington, DC, and devoted nephew Keith Hurt, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
