On Saturday afternoon October 16th, 2021, God called home Richard Warthen III, 61 of Richmond, Va.\n\n\n\nRichard (Rick) was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 10th, 1960 to the late Evelyn and Richard Warthen Jr.\n\n\n\nRichard graduated from John Dewey High School in 1978 (Brooklyn), then continued his education at New York Technical College and received his degree in Graphic Design. He then went on to pursue a career in Law Enforcement with the Richmond Police Department. After retirement he decided to continue his services at Virginia Union University.\n\n\n\nIn June of 1981, Richard met the love of his life Nina Toney. They married June 18, 1983. From this union were born Richard (Nadia) Warthen IV, affectionately known as Buddy. A few years after came a daughter Nia Belinda Warthen, affectionately known as Bear.\n\n\n\nRichard leaves to cherish his precious memories; his wife Nina Belinda, Son Ricky, and daughter Nia, and Daughter-In-Law Nadia, Brothers William E. Warthen, Ronnie (Shujwana) Fryer, Two Sisters Deborah A. Fleming, Beverly D. Jeffers, Mother-In-Law Beulah M. Toney, Sisters-in-Laws, Alma Daye, Cheryl Toney, Yvonne (Jeff) Scott, Chrissy Toney, Brother-In-Laws, Kenny Jackson, Charles E. Toney, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.\n\n\n\nMemorial service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 3:30 PM at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St.
