Robert White, formerly of New York City, NY entered eternal life with family by his side on Saturday, November 28, 2015. \n\nHe leaves to cherish his memory his devoted sister, Laura Shepperson and brother, Sherman White, four nieces; Joy White, Kim Woolridge, Patricia Encarnacion and Theresa Anim; three nephews; Chris T. White, Darrin L. White and Sham A. White, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends. \n\nHe is preceded in death by his Mother; Alma White; his father; Andrew White, and his sister; Beverly White. Robert White was born in Manhattan, New York in 1943. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1961. Later that same year he joined the Army and served until 1965. During his time in the Army, he served in Korea. In 1982, Robert graduated from Pace University in Brooklyn, New York, with a degree in Management Information Systems and had a successful banking career of over 20 years at JPMorgan Chase Bank in Manhattan, New York. As a teenager, Robert loved going to Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. Robert also loved visiting and spending time with family. His nieces particularly looked forward to his visits as children because he would fill their pockets with tons of loose change and take them on fun-filled trips to amusement parks or a local swimming pool. Robert also had a love for travel, taking pictures and running marathons. He ran in several 5K and 10K marathons. In 1997, Robert ran in the New York City Marathon. He was also a member of the "Rochdale Runners" club of Manhattan, New York. Robert relocated to Richmond, Virginia in 2008 and was a proud resident of The William Byrd senior community. During his life, Robert formed two very close friendships with Azalee Williams-Kinard of Pinewood, South Carolina and Pat Williams of Staten Island, New York. \n\nRemains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St. \n\nPrivate memorial service will be held in his honor at a later time.
