Rodney R. Reese was born on February 6, 1960, to Mrs. Ida Mae Dennis Reese and the late Theadore Reese in Charleston, South Carolina. Rodney was raised in Charleston, South Carolina. He attended the Charleston Public School System. Rodney excelled in high school with different activities. He was part of the Garrett High School Marching Band. He also was a star football player at Garrett H.S. and participated in ROTC. As we all know Rodney and his outgoing spirit, he was voted Mr. Garrett at Homecoming. He graduated in 1979. He then attended Chowan University Murfreesboro, North Carolina, studying teaching. Completing two years, he then decided to enroll in Baptist College of Health Science to study pre-med. There he was a member of Alpha Dite Criterion Fraternity. After second year of college, Rodney decided enlisting in the service was the way for him. Rodney enlisted in the United States Air Force and completed his training in Baten, Mississippi. Later he did a tour in Japan, where he was enlisted to teach Japanese children the English language. After completing his tour with an honorable discharge, Rodney returned back to Charleston, South Carolina. He eventually decided that New York should be his home. While in New York, Rodney met and married Bonita Carter; together, they raised four beautiful children and four beautiful grandchildren. As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by so many. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. Rodney peacefully departed this life on October 2, 2021, with his family surrounding him as he requested. Rodney fought a good fight; now it's time to take your rest. Rodney leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Bonita Carter Reese; mother, Ida Mae Dennis Reese; One sister Karen Tyus; One brother Malcom Abdullah; children, Shanita Shoy, Rodney J.B. Reese, Nina Ross Holifield, and Michael George; grandchildren, Ethan, Yasire, Zahara, and Xavier; two sons-in-law, Elkanah Shoy\nand William Ross Holifield; one daughter-in-law-to-be, Samantha Concepcion; three uncles, Rutledge M. Dennis, Leon P. Dennis, and Abraham B. Dennis; two aunts, Rebecca Frazier and Henriaetta Reese Jefferson; six sisters-in-law, Regina Mirailh, Denise Forbes, Betty Carter, Tanya Carter, Yolanda Carter, and Sabrina Carter; three brothers-in-law, Lawyer Carter, Martin Carter, and Mark Miralih; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends.\n\n\n\nFamily will receive friends Monday, October 11,2021 from 5:00PM-7:00PM\n\nA Celebration of life will be Tuesday, October 12, 2021 Mimms Chapel at 10:30AM.
