Richmond, Virginia
Roy A. Campbell was born on November 1, 1956, in Annotto Bay, St. Mary, Jamaica, and was called home at the age of 69 in Richmond, VA, on April 12, 2026. Roy grew up in Portland, Jamaica, where he attended Bluefield ALL Aged School until he moved to St. Thomas and Kingston, Jamaica, in his early 20's for work.
Roy was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Walter, and brother, Trevor Campbell. He leaves to cherish his memories his dedicated partner, Denise Jackson; his son and grandchildren in the UK; his brother, Micheal "Rohan" Sinclair of Annotto Bay, Jamaica; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as a host of dedicated and devoted friends whom Roy called family.
Roy migrated to the United States in 1991 and resided in Miami, Florida and Brooklyn, New York, before settling in Richmond, Virginia, where he became a staple in the Richmond and Caribbean community. Roy was employed with Lee Hy Paving for over 20 years. In other words, Roy basically paved the way for many.
Roy love to dance and entertain those around him, and he could even throw out a good joke every now and then, especially the "pitch 12". He had a special way of bringing joy to those he encountered. Even on hard days, he could lift spirits and fill a room with joy. He was the kind of man who never put himself first. In a world where many look out for themselves, he stood apart, always thinking of others before his own needs. If you needed something, he was there. If you were struggling, he showed up. he gave his time, his strength, and his love freely, never asking for anything in return, and always put his trust in God.
Today we thank God for the way Roy “My Life Is My Life” Campbell loved all of us, especially the little ones who adored him. May his legacy live on in all our laughter and in the love, he planted in all of us
