Roanoke, Virginia
Shannon Lynette Fox James was a wife, a devoted mother, a cherished sister, a loving aunt, and a treasured friend. Born on November 7, 1978, Shannon lived her life with a heart full of love and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
At an early age, she was baptized at New Chestnut Baptist Church in Mechanicsville.
Shannon participated in the youth choir and other youth activities. She was known tor her praying ability and would often be asked to pray. When she relocated to Roanoke, she would visit local churches in the area.
Shannon attended Lee-Davis High School and had a love for singing and dancing. One of her favorite artists was Mary J. Blige whom she often imitated. She was also known for her fierce love and dedication to her family. Shannon was someone who would stand up, speak up, and protect the people she loved.
Shannon was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Joyce Matthew Fox; her father, Ollie Coleman Jr; her sister, Sheila Snead; and her brother, Kenny Coleman. We find comfort knowing that she was reunited with those she loved who went before her, welcomed her through Heaven's gates and is resting peacefully in God's presence.
Shannon leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Carol James, and her loving and devoted children: Adrion, Adrian, A' Javion, Akayvion Richardson, Carolasia, and Carol James, Jr. She also leaves behind a stepdaughter, Derrisetta James Pringle.
She will forever be remembered by her siblings: Barbara Ann Stansil (Michael), J. Elaine Winn, Mary Dickerson, Sharon Fox (Ronnie), Robert Fox, Ollie Coleman, Jr. (Ann), Dale, Millie, Debra, and Jackie Coleman.
Shannon also leaves a host of family and friends who loved her tremendously. Her love,
laughter, strength, and beautiful spirit will continue to live through the people she leaves behind. Though she has left this earthly life, her love remains. May she now rest peacefully, free from pain.
Shannon you will be missed and forever in our hearts. "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord". -Matthew 25:21
