Richmond, VA
Shaun Theron Champion was born in Germany on July 21, 1979, to the late Venitta D. Brown and Len E. Champion. On October 14, 2026, Shaun departed this early life, leaving behind cherished memories, a loving family, and an unforgettable presence that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Shaun received his education in Richmond, Virginia. Over the course of his working life, he worked in operations at Rehrig International and Grace Home. From a young age, he enjoyed working with his hands and was known far and wide for his ability to repair vehicles. His mechanical skills allowed him to assist others throughout Virginia, whether fixing a vehicle or lending a helping hand to someone in need.
Shaun had a deep appreciation for music, especially the soulful sounds of 80s and 90s R&B. Some of his favorite artists included Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Tevin Campbell, Gerald Levert, and many others. He loved spending time with his loved ones while enjoying gatherings that brought everyone together with lots of fun and laughter.
One thing about Shaun—you always knew when he arrived! Whether it was his loud greeting, expressive body language, or outspoken personality, Shaun made sure his presence was known. He had a unique way of expressing himself and was never afraid to speak his mind. His personality was truly one of a kind, and he left a lasting impression wherever he went.
Shaun shared special bond with his nine siblings. Family held a special place in his heart and he believed in the importance of love, unity, forgiveness, and looking out for one another. Following the passing of his beloved mother, Shaun felt her absence deeply. In his way, he tried to carry forward the love, guidance, and support she always provided. Although his approach wasn’t always understood or agreed upon, his intentions came from a place of love. Through life challenges, Shaun held onto his faith and also reminded those around him that “God got us.”
Shaun was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Venitta D. Brown.
He is survived by his loving father, Len Champion; grandmother, Freda Champion; nine siblings, Kendrick Champion, Janelle Champion, Tarita Champion, Adrian Champion, Eric Champion (Shay), Michele Champion, Patria Champion, Tommie Champion, and Sondra Champion; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Shaun was known and loved throughout the Richmond community, and his memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
Rest peacefully, Shaun. Until we meet again, we will hold on to the words you so often shared: “God got us.”
