Shirley Mae Washington

Shirley Mae Woody Washington departed this life August 26, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Fitzhugh and Dorothy W. Woody of Scottsville VA. Shirley was born January 19, 1940.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an oldest brother, Fitzhugh, her former husband Samuel Washington, Sr., grandson Kristopher Tyler, Sr., and great grandsons Kristopher Tyler, Jr. and Samuel Lee Washington.

She is survived by three children, Janis Tyler, Samuel Washington, Jr., and Victor Washington of Lawrenceville GA. Other survivors include her siblings, Robert Woody, Neil Woody (Denise), Florence Harrison (Glenn) and Charlotte Woody Purnell (James); three grandchildren - Marcus Tyler (Cheryl), Aurora CO, Jordan Washington, Alex Washington, seven great grand children and a host of extended family members and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Love Lifted Me Ministries; 3911 Austin Avenue, Henrico VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
