Timothy Atkins

Timothy Zelos Atkins was born September 1, 1971, to Walter Atkins and Antionette Matthews-Atkins in Richmond, Virginia. From this union two sons were born: Walter Atkins, Jr and Timothy. Timothy departed this life suddenly on June 6, 2023. Tim accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age when he attended New Jerusalem Holy Community Church and has been affiliated with New Life Deliverance Tabernacle. Whenever you asked Tim how he was doing, he would always say “I am Blessed," making sure to follow with a big smile. Timothy moved to Rochester NY when he was 12 years old and returned to Richmond VA in 2014 to care for his mother who became ill.

Timothy attended Fairmount Elementary School in Richmond VA and Benjamin Franklin High School in Rochester, NY. While attending training classes, Tim received a certificate in Brick Masonry.

Timothy passion was cutting hair. He was a Master Barber both in Richmond, VA and Rochester, NY. Timothy was employed at Precision Cuts & Hair Styles and Jamalah Barbershop in Richmond, VA., as well as Visions Barbershop during his time in Rochester NY.

Timothy had a heart for helping others and a deep love for his family. Tim loved spending quality time with this daughter and granddaughter which always put a big smile on his face. Tim looked up to his Father and cherished and esteemed him so much. Some of Tim’s favorite things to do were dancing, boxing, watching his favorite TV show CSI, playing baseball and basketball with the neighborhood fellows.
Timothy was predeceased in by his mother; Antionette Matthews-Atkins; brother Walter Atkins, Jr; Grandparents; Helen Matthews, Nettie Atkins, Johnnie Matthews, Sr and Walter Fortt; Aunts; Junita Matthews, Martha Atkins, Elsie Mae Atkins, Bessie Pearsall-Garner; Uncles Johnny Matthews Jr; James Alton Garner.

Timothy left to cherish his memory are his Father; Walter (Helen) Atkins, Rochester, NY; his daughter: Timia Atkins; granddaughter: Sky’lar Antoinette Faith Atkins, Richmond, VA: Sisters Trisha (Kennon) Ewing, Nashville, TN: Karen (Lonnie) Griffin; Brothers: Jermaine Atkins, Ukiah(Travita) Atkins, Jeremy Thompson, Kelvin Rollins and Anthony (Denise) Rollins, Rochester, NY: Aunts Edith Halsey; Uncles Lyndwood Matthews, Pernell Matthews, Theodore Matthew, Darrell Matthews, and Walter Matthews, Richmond, VA; a special Friend Helena Thorne and Special Cousin Darrin Troy (Darshell) Hardy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
