Valarie Almeta Smith was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Later, she married the love of her life, Shayne E. Smith, on January 14, 1997. Valarie is known for loving people and it has been said of her that she has never met a stranger. This can be reflected in her being an outstanding Retail Associate, retired from Macy's Department Stores. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, singing in her church choir, working with children at her daughter's daycare, and spending time with her group of friends, affectionately know as the "Golden Girls".\nValarie has always loved her Jesus. The struggle is finally over for Valarie and she did this on her terms. The tremendous burden that few others would carry is now off her shoulders. "I am at peace with this world." She has set a standard and a level of dedication that those who follow in her wake will be hard-pressed to emulate.\n\nValarie is preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Reid, father, Theodore Reid, grandmother, Almeta Faltz, grandfather, John Avents, and brother-in-law, Skeeter Seldon.\n\nShe leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: her husband, Shayne E.
