Voyd Andrew Lee Boykins, affectionately called “Red”, by his family and friends was born June 21, 1941, in Southampton County, Virginia. He was the third oldest of ten children born to the late Conrad Luther and Elizabeth Davis Boykins. He spent his childhood on a farm and attended First Baptist Church, Courtland, Virginia. He received his education in the Southampton County School System.
After reaching adulthood, Andrew left home and moved to Orange, New Jersey and resided there for a number of years. In 1971, he married Caroline Bond (deceased). To this union they had two children, Angelique and Andre. He was a master brick/stone mason, cement finisher, and carpenter. After retiring, he relocated to Richmond, Virginia with his family. Andrew united in fellowship with New Deliverance Temple and was a dedicated usher.
Brought together by their mutual friendship, Andrew was blessed to find love and companionship in his senior years with his marriage to the late Emma Kate Smith for twenty-four years. Andrew was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with family, attending special family gatherings, gospel music, 7-Eleven coffee, traveling to visit his old neighborhood, reminiscing about his younger years and experiences, and talking about the goodness of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
